Polin Waterparks, on behalf of its industry partner, the World Waterpark Association, is urging the industry to help save lives by supporting this year’s World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL).
More than 26 countries are taking part in the global WLSL event which takes place on Thursday, June 21st 2018.
This year, TEAM WLSL’s goal is to spread the message about the importance of swimming lessons to over 30 countries around the world.
WHO estimates that 360,000 people died by drowning in 2015
The event aims to help reduce the number of lives lost in drowning incidents. Figures from the World Health Organization make sobering reading. It is estimated that around 360,000 people died from drowning in 2015, making it a major public health problem worldwide.
WHO advises that “teaching school-age children basic swimming, water safety and safe rescue skills” is a key step towards keeping them safe.
WLSL has been teaching children and their parents about the vital importance of learning to swim since 2010.
Polin hopes to encourage as many waterparks as possible to take part in the event. The WLSL event organisers provide everything needed to host an event, including: the 30-minute curriculum, log sheets, marketing materials, press releases, talking points and recognition certificates.
