Ride Entertainment Launches Slingshot Rides at Cedar Fair Parks

News

Leading thrill rides provider, Ride Entertainment, has negotiated contracts and coordinated installation of two new Slingshot rides at Canada’s Wonderland, Ontario and Carowinds, North Carolina.

The 60-metre Slingshots, manufactured by Ride Entertainment partner Funtime of Austria, propel guests nearly 90 metres vertically into the air. They were installed by a team of experts from both companies and the two theme parks. According to Funtime, one of the benefits of the Slingshot is that it has a relatively small footprint so suits venues where space is at a premium.

“The Slingshot has been a great addition to Carowinds, ” reported Mike Fehnel, Carowinds’ Vice President and General Manager. “The ride is thrilling and intense, yet offers a 48-inch height requirement. This allows a broad audience to experience the attraction.”

At both venues, guests pay extra to experience the new thrill rides.

“The response from our guests has been overwhelmingly positive, and revenues have been impressive, ” said Fehnel.

“Carowinds and Canada’s Wonderland have both been great partners for us, ” added Adam Sandy, Chief Business Development Officer for Ride Entertainment. “The Slingshots have quickly become icons at both properties. The ridership has been terrific, and the parks provided great viewing locations for those who don’t (yet) have the courage to try it for themselves, so they can watch Slingshot riders get sent skyward.”
