Bean Game Cadbury World post COVID RMA themed attractions

RMA Themed Attractions, a full design and build service company specialising in theme parks and visitor attractions, has worked with Cadbury World to provide COVID-19 compliant solutions.

RMA Themed Attractions is pleased to announce that it is continuing its long-standing relationship with popular UK attraction Cadbury World. The chocolate factory in Birmingham is once again welcoming visitors, in a safe and COVID-compliant way, thanks to RMA’s real design solutions.

“It’s no secret, our industry has been hugely impacted by this virus,” says RMA’s Managing Director, Nigel Knight. “We have had to be flexible for all of our clients in helping them implement completely new strategies.”

A complete rethink

For the attraction to reopen safely, a complete rethink of the visitor journey was required, from queue lines and interactives to guest flow throughout the grade-two listed building. In. addition to this, Cadbury World’s theatre show had to be redesigned too, allowing for social distancing within the space and also shortening the show to avoid a backlog of people waiting.

There are many interactive games and information panels at Cadbury world, originally installed by RMA. These have now been retrofitted and altered to provide a safer solution, as Knight explains:

“In each of this instances we have tried to design something that feels appropriate and permanent to the space, in keeping with the overall world, if we’ve done our job right, you shouldn’t notice!”

As attractions around the world begin to welcome visitors once again, extra health and safety considerations and social distancing guidelines mean that operators have had to make a number of changes. This, in turn, will lead to changes in the way that design firms create and build.

“Everything we are designing and making at present goes against all typical attraction design, it’s literally a case of throwing out the rulebook,” says Knight. “But, at this moment, it’s about being dynamic and getting these attractions open again and running safely.”

RMA Themed Attractions is a one-stop-shop that can take projects from conception through to the opening day, as well as providing specific design, build and production skills as required.
