London-based creative studio Scruffy Dog has headhunted a new creative lead from the Lego Group.

Before joining Scruffy, Gareth Smy worked in Billund, Denmark, focusing on Lego’s creative and intellectual property management for the Legoland theme parks/resorts worldwide.

Previously, he was part of the team at Merlin Entertainments’ creative division Merlin Magic Making, where he was tasked with creating some of the newest attractions globally for the world’s second largest attractions operator.

“I was introduced to Scruffy Dog and the CEO Joe [Bright] whilst working on one of their first projects for Merlin,” says Smy. “Coincidentally, it was one of my first too. From there we have always worked really well together. I’m glad that I can continue to fulfil my passion in the themed entertainment industry, developing a multitude of global projects for Scruffy Dog’s growing client base. It’s a dream scenario!”
