Leading theming company, Scruffy Dog Ltd. has manufactured and installed the theming for Legoland Deutschland’s new Great LEGO Race VR Coaster.
The company was also responsible for the detailed entrance portal complete with scale models.
The virtual reality coaster has already proved a hit following its launch at Legoland Malaysia in November 2017.
The ride combines a real coaster with a VR experience as riders race against LEGO figures such as the Pharaoh, Surfer Girl, the Magician and the Pirate Captain.
The 360º immersive world is made from millions of virtual LEGO bricks. Riders race through sharp turns, up steep hills and down again at speed. What’s more, the ride promises multiple experiences because you never know who’s going to win.
Scruffy Dog was the ideal choice for the job, having created the theming for the ride in Malaysia.
“It was great to work with the LEGOLAND team again on another exciting project with some great creative from the guys at Merlin Magic Making,” commented Scruffy Dog founder, Joe Bright.
Scruffy Dog rapid expansion continues
According to Bright, the biggest challenge the team faced was adapting to the vastly different weather conditions. In Malaysia it was over 26 degrees, whereas in Germany the temperature plummeted to minus 8.
Scruffy Dog is currently experiencing a period of rapid growth with the company actively expanding its global reach. Its London theming design studio, staffed by a highly skilled team, is the largest in Europe. A round of recent hirings has also boosted the talent pool in its Barcelona office.
Offering a full range of services from design, to create, build and deliver, Scruffy Dog provides turnkey solutions for the world’s leading theme parks, zoos, resorts and attractions.
