Sim Leisure Group has opened the Escape Challenge indoor adventure theme park at the Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya, a city in Petaling District, Selangor, Malaysia.
Sim Choo Kheng, founder and CEO of Sim Leisure, a Dubai-based theme park developer and operator, said the first phase of Escape Challenge cost almost RM4 million ($960,000).
“It is retro-eco version of a theme park, where children and adults of all ages, can reconnect with nature and discover, or as the case may be, rediscover their childhood,” he said (via The Star).
“This is like a prototype on how to put attractions inside a mall,” he added. “We are targeting the urban population to take part in leisure activities at a mall.”

Sim revealed it took approximately one year to create Escape Challenge due to the coronavirus crisis, although physical building work took six months.
The theme park currently offers 12 attractions, but Sim expects it to expand. “We want to bring more than 20 attractions in two years,” he said.
Sim Leisure is in negotiations to build similar attractions in Thailand and China. It is already developing an Escape with Elpitiya Plantations PLC in Sri Lanka.
Sim Leisure wants to replicate the success of Escape, and is looking to expand to China and the Asean region, such as Indonesia and Thailand.

Escape Challenge focuses on adult play and features various rides, games and activities in a contemporary setting at Paradigm Mall.
ESCAPE Penang in Malaysia features various play attractions, including climbing zones, obstacle courses, zip lines, and waterslides.
Sim Leisure Group worked with WCT Malls Bhd, which manages Paradigm Mall, on Escape Challenge.
Over the past 25 years, Sim Leisure has completed more than 300 projects globally.
These include Bollywood and Motiongate (Dubai), Yas Waterworld (Abu Dhabi), Legoland (Denmark and Malaysia), and Universal Studios (Singapore).
