Six Flags Darien Lake in Buffalo, NY has announced that it will remain closed for the rest of the 2020 season, following the global outbreak of COVID-19.

In a statement on its website, Six Flags Darien Lake said that it remains committed to the health and safety of park guests and team members.

The statement reads: “Due to the ongoing pandemic, Six Flags Darien Lake will remain closed for the 2020 season.”

“These are difficult times, and we know the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many challenges for everyone,” it continues.

“Given the situation we want to ensure we provide you with all the value of your season pass. All 2020 Six Flags Darien Lake season passes and pre-purchased tickets will be valid for the 2021 season.”

“These are difficult times,” says Six Flags Darien Lake

“We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the waterpark next year. We appreciate your understanding during these very challenging times. Please stay safe.”

In August, Cedar Fair announced that California’s Great America will remain closed for the rest of the year, making it the first theme park to cancel reopening plans for 2020 in California.

This is due to the “continued uncertainty in our region surrounding COVID-19 as well as the diminishing number of calendar days left in the 2020 operating season”.

The California Attractions and Parks Association (CAPA) is urging Governor Gavin Newsom to issue guidelines that would allow theme parks to reopen in California.

Meanwhile, Six Flags has announced modified Halloween events, known as Hallowfest, at several of its open theme parks, including Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
