Six Flags Hurricane Harbor expands with giant activity pool at Calypso Springs

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in NJ has debuted its largest expansion yet with Calypso Springs, which features an enormous, 100,000-gallon activity pool.

The pool is Six Flags Hurricane Harbor’s largest new attraction since the water park opened in 2000 at Six Flags Great Adventure.

Calypso Springs’ activity pool also includes an obelisk-style fountain with an erupting geyser, while the expansion features a new dining location.

Also new at Calypso Springs is a large open lounge deck, which boasts hundreds of chairs for sunbathing, as well as oversized umbrellas for guests who prefer to relax in the shade.

“Hurricane Harbor is an industry leader with the biggest and best water slides and thrilling, interactive family attractions,” said Six Flags Great Adventure President John Winkler.

“This is the perfect time to debut our largest new addition to date with Calypso Springs,” he added. “Its enormous new pool, expansive lounge deck and dining area offer the best place in the region to cool off, play and relax Six Flags style with family and friends.”

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor already boasts a million-gallon wave pool, a lazy river that runs for half a mile, two interactive water playgrounds for kids, and more than 25 high-speed thrill rides.

News of the expansion comes after Six Flags Great Adventure became one of the world’s first solar-powered theme parks.

“This is a thrilling day for our company,” said Winkler. “This project represents a giant step toward becoming a net-zero carbon facility.”

“Clean energy is right for the environment and our future, and we look forward to decades of environmental stewardship with our partner, KDC Solar.”

Meanwhile, DXB Entertainments has agreed to pay Six Flags $7.5m for the rights to decide whether to proceed with Six Flags in Dubai over the next five years.
