The Spiral Tower, the world’s first climate-neutral high-rise attraction with cabins that ‘magically spiral up’, has been created by a team of experts and is ready to launch.

The attraction comes from a Netherlands-based consortium of experts and high-tech companies. Some of these were involved in the development of the London Eye and the Dubai Wheel.

Dutch companies that teamed up on the Spiral Tower include KCI The Engineers, Bosch Rexroth, HILLEBRAND and NorthernLight.

The team’s goal was to transform the traditional observation wheel into an innovative, sustainable, energy-efficient and space-efficient attraction.

Innovative, sustainable and energy-efficient

The Spiral Tower features integrated solar panels, vertical gardens and an urban windmill at the top, with 360-degree views.

The consortium is already in discussions with global cities and expos that are interested in launching the Spiral Tower attraction.

Following talks, the Spiral Tower will become a landmark attraction for city centres, urban developments, expo terrains and parks.

“The innovative construction lets autonomous electric cabins, that on their way down regenerate energy like an electric car, magically spiral up the tower,” said Peter Doesburg, sales manager at Bosch Rexroth.

“And the cabin windows offer augmented reality information about must-see city spots, historic highlights, new urban developments and sustainable initiatives,” added Peter Slavenburg, director of NorthernLight

The tower operation is steered by an intelligent control system, which reduces energy use and maintenance, and maximises efficiency.

The Spiral Tower is also made from a lightweight steel construction with circular materials. It has a very small footprint compared to traditional high-rise attractions.

In addition, the cabins regenerate energy like electric cars, and have smart windows with augmented city information. They are suitable for social distancing amid COVID-19.
