Disney’s Star Tours getting Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker update

Disney has announced new destinations for its Star Tours ride, inspired by the upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The update will include a look at Kef Bir, seen in the trailers, and pictured above.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, Star Tours is set to receive a major Rise of Skywalker update on December 20 – the same date the film is released.

The Rise of Skywalker will be the third instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017). It is the final episode of the nine-part saga.

The new Rise of Skywalker experiences are coming to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland Park, and Disneyland.

Disney also revealed that one of the destinations will be the ocean moon Kef Bir, which features in the new trailers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Tours, subtitled ‘The Adventures Continue’, first opened at Disneyland in 1987. Disney will share more details on Star Tours’ new additions in the near future.

It has had various updates over the years to include Starspeeder 1000 flights to Jakku, Crait and Batuu – the location of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Starspeeder riders get the chance to meet their favourite characters, including Princess Leia, Kylo Ren, Poe Dameron, and BB-8.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is also opening on December 5 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and on January 17, 2020 at Disneyland in California.

Galaxy’s Edge already boasts the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride, an abundance of droids, interactive intergalactic experiences and starships, war machines and space vehicles.
