Sun Group, the leading developer of entertainment complexes in Vietnam, is focusing on new developments and attractions during the temporary closures in response to the global outbreak of COVID-19.

Sun World Fansipan Legend suspended operations from March 18 until March 31, while Hon Thom cable car operating hours have also been adjusted.

Aquatopia Water Park, part of the Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park in Phu Quoc, also closed its underwater games area from March 18 until further notice.

Meanwhile, Sun World Halong Complex and Ba Na Hill Golf Course both stopped welcoming visitors and golfers from March 9.

Dang Minh Truong, chairman of Sun Group, said the temporary closures are “a major loss for us”, adding: “We believe that when we all unite, we will overcome all difficulties.”

Sun Group attractions closed through March

The coronavirus closures will allow Sun Group to work on new developments, which will be rolled out when COVID-19 is no longer a threat. The new projects will also contribute to the tourism industry’s recovery in Vietnam.

The first phase of the Yoko Onsen hot spring resort in Cam Pha, Vietnam will come into operation in 2020. It will be the first Japanese-style ‘onsen’ resort in Vietnam.

Premier Village Halong Bay Resort in Ha Long will also officially open before the end of 2020, and a three-wire cable car route is set to open on Cat Hai Island in Q2 2020.

In addition, Sun World Danang Wonders is undergoing a renovation and preparing for the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2020), which is scheduled for July to September.

Helping the tourism industry to recover in Vietnam

Also in Danang, a new cable car route at Sun World Ba Na Hills will open alongside Ravenstone Castle, which is inspired by the fairgrounds, fetes and festivals of Europe.

Elsewhere in Sa Pa, Sun World Fansipan Legend will bring back the ‘Dancing on the Clouds’ show in July and August 2020.

“With all of the aforementioned plans in the pipeline for our enterprise, and together with the timely and practical support policies of the Vietnamese government and ministries, we believe that Sun Group will soon overcome this difficult period and make a significant contribution to tourism in Vietnam and help our country revive and grow in the post-COVID-19 period,” said Dang Minh Truong.
