Ice*Amsterdam crowd skates on ice rink supplied by Swedice

Swedice, a leader in all-year seasonal attractions, is once again supplying the ice rink for Ice*Amsterdam in the city’s Museumplein.

Ice*Amsterdam sees the Museumplein’s central water feature transformed into an ice rink for three months. Powered by Swedice’s ICEFLOO technology, the rink is customised to fit seamlessly into the existing shape of the pond. The boarding is also customised to exactly match the concrete edge of the pond.

The company’s preparatory cooling system, which emits 25% lower emissions than other comparable systems on the market, is permanently installed in the vault under the pond.

Thanks to the Swedice system, guests of all abilities can take to the ice whatever the weather, skating under a replica of the city’s famous Magere Brug with the Rijksmuseum in the background. There are photo opportunities aplenty amid the fairy lights, and hot chocolate to warm up with afterwards.

Throughout the season, there will also be weekly special events, as well skating lessons and activities for young and old alike.

From 14th to 26th December, the Museumplein ups the festivities with the Ice*Village winter fair. Here, locals and visitors can snap up original Christmas gifts, unique accessories and warm clothing, as well as sampling a wide range of food and drinks.

This year marks the 18th time that Swedice has delivered the Ice*Amsterdam experience. The company is a leader in delivering all-year seasonal attractions including its 365 Ride, Slide & Glide attractions. Recent projects include the supply of matting, with partner Neveplast, to a dry sky slope atop Copenhagen’s landmark waste burning and energy-generating plant, Copenhill.
