Sysco Productions, a world-class experience delivery company, has been chosen as the audiovisual partner for the Transforming Nottingham Castle project.

Sysco Productions is proud to announce that it has been successfully appointed as the audiovisual partner for the ambitious £30m Transforming Nottingham Castle project, made possible thanks to grants from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and D2N2.

Nottingham Castle is a popular visitor attraction with a rich history of power, protest and rebellion that spans one thousand years. This project will sympathetically restore the iconic castle in order to fully celebrate its heritage and collections. Transforming Nottingham Castle is one of the most significant heritage regeneration projects in the UK today.

New visitor experiences

The plans include a new visitor centre that introduces guests to the castle and its history, as well as new gallery spaces and exhibitions that bring the stories of the castle to life. These will use audiovisual interactives as well as creative narratives to share the fascinating history of the site and reveal its extensive collections.

Visitors will also enjoy an immersive multisensory experience in the Robin Hood Gallery as they explore the stories of the famous outlaw. Meanwhile, the Rebellion Gallery will delve into Nottingham’s role in the fight for democracy, representation and fairness.

Throughout the galleries, artworks and objects will be presented with insightful interpretation and enlivened with animated chronicles using large-scale AV presentations and digital interactive games. The galleries will also use touchscreen interactives and archive footage.

The early Nottingham craft gallery will highlight the medieval alabasters collection, as well as the 17th-century salt glaze pottery collection. Furthermore, the Nottingham Lace Gallery will showcase Nottingham’s most famous creative industry.

Sysco collaborated with Casson Mann during the design development, and will also be working closely with fit-out contractors Beck, supporting the audiovisual integration. The creative media content will be produced by JAM Media, Preloaded, Bottletop, Spiral Media, and Sideburn Panda. Squint/Opera will provide the creative media content for the Robin Hood gallery.

While Nottingham Castle is currently closed, the project has enjoyed rapid progress to date and the site is expected to open to the public in Spring 2021.

Sysco also recently announced that it has been appointed as the audiovisual partner for a new Imperial War Museum project.
