Sands Resorts Macao and art collective teamLab are launching an immersive digital-only museum at the Venetian Macao. The monumental digital art destination is set to open in January 2020.
The news was announced on teamLab’s Instagram, with the new museum described as a “massive, multi-layered immersive space”.
The “body immersive” attraction will have 5,000 square metres of “labyrinthine” floor space with eight-metre-high “cavernous” ceilings.
The currently untitled museum will be located within the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo Hall F. It is now under construction.

teamLab will transform the space into a complex, 3D world with constantly-changing artworks and new pieces.
The new destination at the Venetian Macao will be a world of teamLab artworks that blur the boundaries between the human body and art.
According to a press release, visitors will immerse themselves in and create a new world together.
The innovative artainment group is made up of artists, computer programmers, engineers, CG animators, designers, mathematicians, and architects.

Earlier this year, teamLab paused work on its museum in Brooklyn, New York City. It plans to rethink its strategy for expanding to the US.
The collective was set to open a large permanent exhibition at Industry City in Sunset Park.
Still, teamLab Borderless in Tokyo welcomed 2.3 million visitors in its first year, making it the world’s most popular single-artist destination.
teamLab Borderless, operated by Mori Building Co and teamLab, is based on the concept of borderless, experiential exhibits that interact physically with visitors.
Meanwhile, Tank Shanghai previously opened with three exhibitions, including a teamLab’s large interactive digital waterfall installation.
teamLab is represented by Pace Gallery.
