Tema Design by MK Illumination has designed and produced a watermill at Tarte Flambé Bakery for Europa-Park.
Europa-Park has invested more than 25 million euros in new rides and theming around the park for 2018. Part of that investment has gone towards creating new attractions in the French themed area. The new water-mill-themed Tarte Flambé Bakery offers visitors authentic Alsatian cuisine.
Already well known for their experience in fiberglass manufacture, Tema Design by MK Illumination, has delivered this complex woodworking project for the theme park.
Tema Design by MK Illumination designed and produced the authentic looking water mill, based on sketches from Europa-Park.
“We really wanted to capture the feeling of the good old days where life seemed simpler, and to do that we wanted an authentic looking water mill providing relaxing water sounds, to create a desired atmosphere for our French area,” said Chris Lange, Creative Director at Europa-Park.
“We know that it is not easy building an authentic looking water mill, as specific knowledge is needed about the right use of materials and construction so the balance of the water mill is equal all the way around, in order to keep the mill running,” he added.
Europa-Park chose Tema Design by MK illumination because of the company’s experience in building complex woodwork structures.
“We are known for our fiberglass decorations, but not that many know how strong our skills and knowledge actually is in producing woodwork, so we are really happy that Europa-Park chose us to produce their new water mill,” said Lars Nielsen, Themed Attraction Manager at Tema Design by MK Illumination. “We have really skilled employees, who have done incredible woodwork for many years.”
Lasse Jørgensen, Production Manager for Tema Design by MK Illumination has had previous experience of water mills: “I worked on a water mill project for a world famous Danish amusement park. This knowledge combined with my employees’ makes it possible for us to design and produce a complex project like the new water mill for Europa-Park”.
