Beauty and the Beast expansion opening in 2020 at Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo Disneyland’s new expansion, ‘New Fantasyland’, is scheduled to open in 2020. The upcoming area will include the ‘Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast’ attraction.

The opening date of April 15, 2020 was announced by Oriental Land Co (OLC), who unveiled more information about the upcoming development.

Alongside the Beauty and the Beast attraction, Tokyo Disneyland will boast an indoor theatre, ‘Fantasyland Forest Theatre’.

Experience the immersive world of Belle and the Beast

tokyo disneyland fantasyland‘Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast’ will feature Maurice’s Cottage at the entrance, as well as Gaston’s Fountain.

The immersive land also boasts Belle’s Village, with restaurants and shops, and the Beauty and the Beast Castle, where the attraction is located.

Visitors will follow Belle and the Beast on a romantic musical adventure in vehicles that dance to the film’s soundtrack.

As guests leave the ride and enter the forest, they’ll find the Fantasyland Forest Theatre – Tokyo Disneyland’s first full-scale indoor theatre.

Tomorrowland and Toontown are also getting new additions, ‘The Happy Ride with Baymax’ and ‘Minnie’s Style Studio’, opening on the same day.

In Tomorrowland, ‘The Happy Ride with Baymax’ takes guests on a journey with their own personal healthcare companion.

‘The Big Pop’, a space-themed popcorn shop, is also heading to Tomorrowland. In Toontown, guests can meet Minnie Mouse at Minnie’s Style Studio.

Earlier this year, Tokyo DisneySea opened its new flight motion-simulator ride, Soaring: Fantastic Flight, based on Soarin’ Around the World.

OLC previously revealed it was investing 250 billion yen ($2.2 billion) in Tokyo DisneySea, which includes the Fantasy Springs expansion project.

Fantasy Springs is the eighth Tokyo DisneySea port, opening in 2022. It will feature three areas inspired by Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan.

OLC also recently revealed its financial results for 2018/2019.
