Toverland has announced plans to reopen from May 19. The amusement park in the Netherlands will follow the ‘A Safe Day Out Together’ protocol in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Toverland, which is reopening in coordination with the council of Horst aan de Maas, has developed the protocol with Club van Elf and the Dutch Zoo Federation.
The ‘A Safe Day Out Together’ protocol has three main points – good information service, extra hygiene measures, and social distancing of 1.5m between households.
Toverland staff will receive extensive training on the new protocol, and more information can be found at Toverland.com/en/asafedayouttogether.

“Toverland has always given high priority to safety. Our staff members are familiar with this and are currently receiving extra training,” said general director Jean Gelissen Jr.
“We are convinced that we can offer a safe and responsible day out to our guests and a magical working day to our staff. We are ready to open our doors on 19 May, our birthday!”
Toverland will ensure that there is a 1.5m distance between households, achieving this by limiting the number of guests that are allowed access at one time.
The attraction previously said it may need to put a cap on visitor numbers, and it has now confirmed that capacity will be reduced by half.

Guests will also be required to book a dated ticket online before visiting. Annual pass holders are also required to book before they visit, and a special pass holder platform has been created.
Toverland will provide sufficient and clear information, with instructions and signage in place for visitors. Staff will be trained to point out and explain the measures to guests.
The theme park will undertake additional hygiene measures, disinfecting high-touch surfaces such as safety bars on roller coasters and door handles.
Guests are encouraged to find out more on Toverland’s website in preparation for their visit, and to book dated tickets online.
