Universal Orlando announces dates and details of Christmas celebrations

Universal Orlando Resort has announced dates and details of its 2019 holiday (aka Christmas) celebrations. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be transformed, while attractions include Grinchmas and the Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s.

The celebration begins on November 16, 2019 and runs until January 5, 2020.

Christmas will be taking place within The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

The streets of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley will be adorned with themed decorations, garlands and lights, while festive F&B will include hot Butterbeer.

There will also be Christmas carols from the Frog Choir and holiday hits from Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees.

At night, Hogwarts Castle will be transformed with a holiday projection for ‘The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle’.

Aside from Harry Potter-themed Christmas celebrations, Universal is putting on its Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s at Universal Studios Florida.

Holiday Parade will feature Minions and Shrek

The parade will feature Minions and other characters from Despicable Me, Shrek and his family, and Madagascar animals. It also includes more than 30 balloons and floats, as well as hundreds of performers.

Guests will also get the chance to meet The Grinch during Grinchmas at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. ‘Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular’ will be a live retelling of Dr Seuss’ ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’

Christmas is also happening at Universal’s hotels, which will feature holiday décor and activities, festive meals and more.

Speaking of which, Universal Orlando Resort recently announced the opening date of its eighth hotel, Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites.

Dockside Inn and Suites will open on March 17, 2020. It will be an affordable ‘value’ category hotel and will add 2,050 rooms to Universal Orlando Resort.

Also coming to Universal Orlando Resort is its fourth theme park, Universal’s Epic Universe, which is expected to open in 2023.
