Universal Beijing Resort will start trial operations in the first half of 2021. After the trial run, an official opening date will be announced for the new theme park.

Located in the east of Beijing, Universal Beijing Resort will feature a Universal Studios theme park, a Universal CityWalk complex and two resort hotels. These hotels will be the Universal Studios Grand Hotel and the NUO Resort Hotel.

Theme park main structure completed

Ecns.cn reports that Hu Jiulong, deputy head of the sub-centre management committee, announced the date of the trial run at a press conference.

According to Jiulong, the main structure of the theme park has been completed. The installation of rides and performance facilities should be completed by the end of 2020.

All construction of the Universal CityWalk complex has also been completed. Work is now starting on the decorative aspects of the complex, such as gardens.

River expected to be completed in November

A 2.8 km long river will pass through Universal Beijing Resort, and allow visitors to enter the theme park by boat. The hotels on the resort site will have landing docks that will allow guests to take a boat to the park entrance.

Earlier reports suggest that construction on this river will be finished in November.

In October 2019, Universal Beijing Resort announced the seven themed lands that will feature in Universal Studios Beijing. These will be Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Transformers: Metrobase, Minion Land, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic World Isla Nublar, Hollywood and WaterWorld.

These new lands will bring popular stories and characters to life and immerse guests in unique experiences.

Meanwhile, more photos have been released of the new Super Nintendo World land at Universal Studios Japan. The new land is expected to open later this year after being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
