Vivaticket, a provider of ticketing and access control solutions, has gone live with its market-leading ticketing solution at France’s iconic Eiffel Tower.

Vivaticket is pleased to announce the go-live of a new ticketing system for the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the most visited monument in the world, after an 18-month deployment process. The attraction was in need of a robust and reliable system in order to handle over 6 million visitors per year and more than 30,000 visits per day at peak times.

This high demand poses a range of distribution and marketing challenges. The Tower chose Vivticket to provide a new technology solution to solve these and to manage its commercial operations.

The need for a new system

The goal of the project was to transform the attraction’s ticketing distribution, guarantee the top-quality performance of its POS and access control, and gain full control of distribution channels. The Eiffel Tower also wanted 360-degree management of its inventory. Following a six month consultation, it chose to work with Vivaticket on a full solution.

The project took 18 months and involved a large team of experts from the company, including a head of project, project manager and product manager, as well as over 60 developers, technicians, trainers, IT and R&D specialists. The collaboration between all the teams involved ensured the success of the project, which also included new development methodology centred around short cycles.

The Vivaticket solution

The Eiffel Tower is now enjoying a fully-tested and reliable ticketing solution. This features a robust management system, able to optimise and automate the attraction’s internal processes. It also allows operators to easily manage ticket inventory across a variety of different channels and resellers.

The API integrations provide real-time interfacing of all the monument’s tools, enabling an efficient sales process. The new system also allows for bulk cancellations, refunds and automated reports.

Further improvements are planned in the near future, such as the integration of WeChat and Alipay, planned for 2020, as well as the optimisation of access controls with light scanners and control screens. Overall, Vivaticket’s new solution is now in use by over 70 team members working in the attraction’s sales, marketing and customer care departments.

Vivatcket, which was founded in 1999 in Bologna, provides technological solutions and related services to a range of businesses including sports venues and clubs, theatres, museums, cultural venues, theme parks, zoos, water parks, trade shows and more.
