Warner Bros. World in Abu Dhabi is set to open in the summer, the rides are installed and the park is on target for its 2018 opening.
Situated on Yas Island, the superstructure of the $1bn indoor park has been fully constructed and ride installation is approaching completion. Developed by Miral, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi will feature six themed lands – Metropolis, Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock, Dynamite Gulch and Warner Bros Plaza – with a total of 29 rides, shows and attractions.
Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, visited the site last week. There, he was given an update on its progress. He was accompanied by Dr Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. There were also various Abu Dhabi government officials.
The project has engaged 5,500 specialist engineers, workers and craftsmen. The park will span 1.65 million square feet.
The park’s water tower, inspired by the iconic Warner Bros water tower in Burbank, has been completed. It weighs more than 300 tons and reaches 61 meters in height. This makes it it one of the tallest structures on Yas Island.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak is chairman of Miral, the developer of Yas Island. He said, “We are approaching another major milestone for Yas Island, as the development of Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi nears completion”.
Building on Yas Island’s strong position in the market and maintaining its positive momentum, the park’s opening will further enrich our tourism offering driving visitors from across the world and establishing Abu Dhabi as a leisure and cultural destination of distinction”.
Miral has worked with Warner Bros Consumer Products and DC Entertainment to develop the park. It will complement Miral’s Yas Island destination portfolio, which includes Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, CLYMB and the recently announced SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.
