Wet'n'Wild Las Vegas has announced that a WhiteWater Slideboarding game, the first in the world, is to be added to the Zipp Zapp Zoom waterslide and unveiled on Memorial Day weekend.
Slideboarding is a fusion of gaming with a waterslide experience. Riders are positioned on a raft with handles that double as game controllers. As they slide down the tunnel riders click color-coded buttons that correspond to coloured bulbs on the inside of the slide, while passing over sensors within the slide.
A smart gaming system tracks each player's progress and posts the scores to scoreboards. The system creates tailored experiences for each rider with varying degrees of difficulty (36 in total) based upon experience in prior games.
An app simulating the Slideboarding experience will launch shortly after the ride opens allowing park goers to practice their Slideboarding skills in time for their next visit.
Commenting on the new attraction, Takuya Ohki, general manager of Wet'n'Wild Las Vegas, said, "We are thrilled to be the first park in the world to feature this Slideboarding technology and to bring such a fun element to the Las Vegas valley."
