World Touring Exhibitions, a leading producer and provider of travelling exhibitions, has announced that it is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year, following 20 years of operation.
Some of the company’s recent exhibitions include the hugely successful Travelling Bricks which features 120 models in 60 scenes, made from LEGO bricks, as well as Interactive Science, 3D Doubt Your Eyes, Space Adventure and Living Dragons. The company’s exhibits have entertained audiences across the globe including in the EU, UK, US, Russia and the Middle East.
Origins in the music industry
World Touring Exhibitions began life in April 2001, as a music agency and artist management provider called World Concert Artists. During this initial period, the company worked mainly with crossover and vintage artists, as well as international shows and festivals. Notable artists that it worked with include Vanessa-Mae, Keith Emerson and Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet and Alesha Dixon.
In addition, World Concert Artists was involved in a range of successful shows such as Rhythm Of The Dance, Lord Of The Dance and Shaolin Warriors. The company also executive-produced the metal album, Charlemagne, by the late Sir Christopher Lee, which won the prestigious Golden Gods Award metal prize in 2010.
It was around this time that the company’s focus shifted towards the world of exhibitions, as founder and director Corrado Canonici explains:
“In 2010, the same year our crazy record production with Sir Christopher was released, we almost by chance were asked to help in touring a dinosaurs exhibition, which we found a very exciting and fulfilling experience.
“Almost immediately we felt it was a good idea to focus on exhibitions. They became pretty quickly the main focus of our activities – so much so that music went in the backseat until we eventually quit music altogether. Travelling exhibitions were our new life: enter World Touring Exhibitions.”
The rise of World Touring Exhibitions
Under its new name, World Touring Exhibitions quickly gained expertise in the travelling exhibitions market and graduated from presenting exhibitions to producing them. Its roots in the music and live events industry provided a source of useful insights, enabling it to create engaging exhibitions with a balance of entertainment and education.
Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, with a string of successful exhibitions to its name. New shows from World Touring Exhibitions include The Art Of Interactive Digital, Living Dragons and 100 Years Of Bags, plus a new football exhibition is soon to be announced.
The future also looks bright for World Touring Exhibitions, as last month it announced it has opened a new base in Rotterdam.
“We recently opened a subsidiary in The Netherlands to escape the ‘Brexit-effect’ and continue to tour undisturbed in the European Union which is for us a very strong market, as well as an institution we greatly respect,” says Canonici.
Plus, it also launched a new services department earlier this year, for clients wanting to create their own temporary or permanent exhibitions.
