WWA, the World Waterpark Association, has shared the latest guidance from the CDC on operating during COVID-19, alongside its collection of resources and operational advice.
WWA is continuing to share advice and guidance for operators during the coronavirus pandemic and has now added the latest considerations from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) on operating public pools, hot tubs, and water playgrounds during COVID-19.
This advice includes topics such as promoting behaviours that prevent the spread of the virus, maintaining healthy environments and planning for what to do if someone becomes sick.
CDC guidelines
The document looks at ways of preventing the spread of the virus, such as washing hands often and covering coughs and sneezes, and when to wear masks. It also says that operators should make sure that it has adequate supplies of the materials it needs to support this, for instance, soap, hand sanitiser, tissues and no-touch rubbish bins. Communicating to the public that they must follow these measures is also key.
The advice outlines the steps that operators should take in order to keep their environments as healthy as possible, including rigorous cleaning procedures and schedules as well as modifying layouts and signage to keep to social distancing recommendations. The CDC has also included advice on maintaining healthy operations and what steps to follow if someone is sick.
Other resources
A link to the advice can be found on the WWA’s website, where it is maintaining an up to date list of resources. This includes guidelines from the White House as well as The Environmental Protection Agency other experts and professional bodies.
The WAA has also announced two new date options for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson. It was originally scheduled for the 18th June 2020, however, this has been changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
