Zog gets 3D interactive trail at Warwick Castle

Julia Donaldson/Axel Scheffler

Merlin Entertainments has partnered with Magic Light Pictures on a new 3D interactive Zog trail at Warwick Castle. The family-friendly attraction launches in spring 2020.

Kicking off at Easter, the new trail is inspired by the colourful world of loveable dragon Zog. It will boast various activities for children based on Zog’s lessons at Dragon School.

Guests will soar over the top of the castle mound without leaving the ground, and will get to test out the Roar-o-meter at Bear Tower.

Visitors can also collect stamps at each task and take part in the final challenge at Sir Gadabout’s School for Ambitious Knights.

In addition, children will get the chance to meet Zog, who will be handing out golden stars and posing for photo opportunities.

Daryl Shute, brand director at Magic Light Pictures, said: “We are delighted to partner with Merlin Entertainments to bring Zog to their fantastic venue. Warwick Castle is the perfect setting for dragons, princesses and heroic deeds!

“Our close collaboration is creating a truly special experience for kids that allows them to step into the magical world of Zog and live the story for themselves.”

Zog, which had 8.8 million viewers when it premiered on Christmas Day in 2018, is based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

The sequel, Zog and the Flying Doctors, is a collaboration between Magic Light and BBC One and will debut at Christmas 2020.

Liam Bartlett, operations director for Warwick Castle, said: “We’re thrilled that Zog is flying in to Warwick Castle – it’s going to be roar-some!

“The interactive trail is great for kids of all ages, and supports the key messaging from the storybook itself around tenacity, persistence and rising to the challenge.

“It’s a fantastic addition to the Warwick Castle experience and shows once again why we’re a leading attraction for families from across the UK and beyond.”
