Popular title is transformed with new virtual reality elements

SPREE Interactive, a provider of active free-roam VR experiences, has announced the release of a new virtual reality solution, based on the popular online and console game Dynablaster. This will be added to the company’s family-friendly games pack. The classic game, licensed by BBG Entertainment, calls for strategic thinking as players aim to get the highest score in the action-maze.

Now, the VR remake from SPREE Interactive brings a controller-less element to the game’s key features of planting bombs close to rival players and crates. In order to place a bomb, players squat down, with longer squats resulting in bigger bombs. They can also jump high and kick it towards opponents or crates to boost their score.

Transforming the original

“We took the classic gameplay from the original and transformed it into the virtual world,” says Sarah Stief, Head of Content. “With additional features, such as rolling bombs and an ultra-dynamic VR environment, the game has an added layer of complexity making it even more strategic and competitive.”

SPREE Interactive has partnered with BBG Entertainment, developer of the original Dynablaster game, to combine the original intuitive gameplay with a high-energy, VR game of strategy and skill.

“SPREE Interactive’s unique tracking technology allows for a remarkable immersive experience, and this made it a very secure decision to entrust them with the production of Dynablaster in VR,” says Stephan Berendsen, President of BBG Entertainment GmbH. “We are excited that our partners at SPREE had the vision to bring our bomber game into the multiplayer VR world and that they have stayed true to the original.”

Boosting repeat play

The competitive game encourages repeat play as visitors try to boost their score, using new features such as rolling bombs for more intensity. It is suitable for players ages 8 and above and can transform spaces from as small as 6×6 metres. There is a fast turnaround, leading to high throughput and a maximum capacity of 200 players per hour, with the SPREE Arena 10 player version.

“With the release of Dynablaster we were looking to take the very best of classic console games and bring it into the future,” says Jonathan Nowak Delgado, Co-Founder and Director of SPREE Interactive.

“This addition complements our library of games by adding a strategic games title that the whole family knows and can enjoy. We have found a balance between recreating classic games and designing breakthrough originals that all generations love.”

The team will be showcasing Dynablaster and the latest version of the SPREE Arena, with technological advances such as the newly integrated Pico Neo 3 headset, at IAAPA Expo 2021 in Orlando this November.

SPREE Interactive also recently announced that it has entered into the esports sector, thanks to its latest launch, the VR Laser Tag game bundle.
