An astronomy theme park for Hanoi

News
Hanoi Astronomy Park

The Vietnamese capital is set to welcome what is billed as the first outdoor astronomy park in Southeast Asia.

The 12 hectare project in Hanoi will be developed by the The Nam Cuong Corporation in co-operation with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Italian landscape development group EGO International.

It will provide a “multi-function ecosystem” that meets demand for study, science and recreation for all age groups. A 6 hectare lake will sit at the heart of the park, recreating the formation of the universe, the solar system and constellations.

“The park will be an exciting destination for those who love science and space exploration,” says Nam Cuoing vice-chairwoman, Tran Thi Quynh Ngoc. “There has not been much investment in astronomy in Vietnam in comparison to other sciences.”

The astronomy park will be a highlight of Duong Noi township. Construction is expected from August to December of this year, with phase two to be implemented in the second quarter of 2018.

Vietnam has seen a lot of theme park and attractions development in recent years. In March, the Quy Nhon Wildlife Park project was announced for the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone. Last year, the Sun Group opened a theme park in Hanoi. Other developments are on the way as the government targets tourism as a driver for economic growth over the next 13 years as part of its 2030 plan.
