Airbnb’s third most trending travel destination has upgraded major systems

DigiTickets, a leading provider of ticketing and EPOS solutions for attractions, tours and events, has partnered with a major heritage site in the English county of Devon.

When Clovelly, a privately-owned harbour village, looked at changing their ticketing provider, DigitTickets were approached to assist with the transition.

“We began by working with the Clovelly team, setting up the admission ticketing, memberships and garden entry, as well as liaising for a suitable time for the big switch to happen,” says DigitTickets. “Next, it was looking at some of the incredibly popular events held in the village. From their Lobster and Crab Feast to the Lifeboat Day, this attraction is quintessentially British.”

A royal heritage

Clovelly has a long history, originally being owned by William the Conqueror and later being owned by England’s first female monarch, Mary I. A regular feature in Victorian novels, Clovelly is a renowned treasure of the county.

The village is currently owned by John Rous, who has been managing the estate for almost four decades. Almost 500 people live and work at Clovelly, with the site including two hotels, two museums, a visitor centre, gardens, chapels and approximately 2000 acres of farmland.

Visitors pay an entrance fee which grants access to the village for the entire day. One of the most distinctive features of Clovelly is its local donkeys, who played an important role in the village’s bygone fishing trade.

Focusing on operations

DigiTickets is able to provide an integrated, all-in-one ticketing and payments solution through its exclusive partnership with Payyo. The payment gateway integrates with Clovelly’s ticketing back office, making the process as efficient as possible, to save time and money. Refunds, over-the-phone payments and reports all happen in one place, with the assistance of DigiTickets’ support team when required.

“Clovelly’s systems are now aligned meaning they can focus on running their attraction. We have got a soft spot for Devon attractions, so with Clovelly being so close to DigiTickets’ HQ, and knowing their operation pretty well already, it seemed like the perfect fit,” says the firm.

DigiTickets recently exhibited at IAAPA Expo Europe, showcasing the firm’s tried and tested technology solutions for the attractions sector.
