Sandbox VR is launching its first UK venue in London in summer 2022, offering what it describes as a futuristic immersive experience with virtual reality (VR) gameplay and competitive socialising.

Sandbox VR is powered by motion capture cameras, 3D precision full-body trackers, custom hardware and haptic feedback suits. Guests will be immersed in interactive worlds as if they are “living inside a game or movie”, according to a news release.

The new London venue will feature a cocktail and pizza menu, with a bar operated by the UK’s first permanent robotic bartender, the Makr Shakr. The bot, called IG-1, can serve up to 80 drinks per hour. It can also perform complex motions such as shaking, stirring and muddling.

Drinks will be inspired by Sandbox VR’s games, with ‘Samarian Sunset’ based on the ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ experience and ‘Zombie Apocalpyse’ based on ‘Deadwood Mansion’. Additional games on offer include ‘Curse of Davy Jones’ and ‘Amber Sky 2088’.

The attraction will feature tables with terminals where players can order drinks to IG-1. It will also work with London-based food brands and serve dishes such as popcorn, ice cream and sweets.

Each experience is exclusive to Sandbox VR. Up to six players can enjoy a shared experience, physically interacting with each other in the virtual world. Sandbox VR has more than 19 venues across the globe and is expanding into esports.

Last year, Sandbox VRĀ opened a new location in theĀ Grand Canal ShoppesĀ atĀ the Venetian Resort Las Vegas.
