Theme park management

Theme park management involves overseeing a park’s daily operations. This entails ensuring that every ride, attraction, and restaurant or shop is staffed to capacity and that every worker is properly trained and aware of their responsibilities. A theme park manager will sometimes also be responsible for determining the park‘s operating hours, days of the week it will be open, when it will open and close for the season, how much entry will cost, and the procedures that will be followed if a guest has a problem or complaint.

As part of the theme park management responsibilities, one additional task is to assist with future planning. In certain situations, this can mean making updates to the park such as replacing or repairing ageing infrastructure or equipment and making sure everything is in working order. In other situations, managing an extension of the theme park may entail adding even more attractions for guests to view and enjoy while they are on the park’s property.

The ultimate objective of theme park management is to provide visitors with a secure and entertaining experience that will entice them to return time and time again. This can be achieved by ensuring that the park has a pleasing visual appearance, that all visitors can enjoy the attractions, and that guests can enjoy their time at the park without worrying about their safety.

Traditionally, theme parks were operated and managed by families or small companies. However, many modern theme parks are part of a larger management company, for instance, the Six Flags chain or Merlin Entertainments. In these cases, there is usually a local manager to oversee day-to-day tasks while strategy is handled at a corporate level.
