Nickelodeon Adventure has now opened at intu Lakeside in Thurrock, Essex. The retailtainment attraction comes from Parques Reunidos and features PAW Patrol, SpongeBob and Rugrats.

The family-friendly indoor adventure experience from operator Parques Reunidos is part of the 175,000-square-foot leisure expansion at Lakeside.

Nickelodeon Adventure is the first of its kind in the UK. It has 50,000 square feet of indoor space and various themed zones.

James Eels, UK director at Parques Reunidos, said the company “identified a gap in the market for a family-themed indoor leisure attraction in this region”.

“Nickelodeon has developed a unique and highly-themed visitor attraction and we can’t wait to see the reactions of our guests as they step into Nickelodeon’s cartoons and meet their favourite characters,” added Eels.

“Working with intu, our aim is to bring a new range of visitors from across the south east and beyond who will shop and play in one location, whatever the weather.”

Themed zones are inspired by Nickelodeon brands, including PAW Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Rugrats.

Attractions include a 4D cinema, costumed characters, suites for private parties, as well as a café and gift shop.

Nickelodeon Adventure is one of four major leisure anchors at Lakeside’s £72 million development, which overlooks the destination’s 22-acre lake.

Kate Grant, regional managing director at intu, said: “intu Lakeside’s leisure development has created new opportunities for brands like Nickelodeon Adventure to flourish.

“We’ve transformed one of the country’s most popular shopping centres into a major retail and leisure destination for the south east and this is attracting more visitors to intu Lakeside looking for day out experiences as well as weekends away with friends and family.”

Elsewhere, Nickelodeon Universe opened at American Dream in October. The indoor theme park boasts favourite Nickelodeon characters like SpongeBob and Dora the Explorer.
