PortAventura World to offer the largest private EV charging hub network in Spain.

PortAventura World is collaborating with Endesa X Way, Spain’s leading electricity supplier, to develop one of the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs at a European resort.

Soon, PortAventura World will have 150 charging points at seven locations across the resort, including three car parks and four hotels. These will be free to employees and visitors.

According to a release, PortAventura World will be home to the largest private charging hub network in Spain. The project will be completed by September 2022.

Spanish legislation that comes into effect in January 2023 requires public car parks to have a minimum of one parking space with EV charging for every 40 standard spaces.

“Promoting initiatives that encourage sustainable mobility is rooted in the company’s continued commitment in terms of ESG,” said Choni FernĂ¡ndez, director of sustainability at PortAventura World.

“We are proud to announce this EV charging hub project, one that is pioneering for Europe, and allows us to be another link in the chain of sustainability, enabling both our employees and visitors to reach the resort by means of low-emission transport”

“The shift towards electric mobility must be made easy, and it is up to companies and administrations to facilitate this change,” said Manuel Muñoz, director of sales and marketing at Endesa X Way.

Located close to Barcelona, PortAventura World is one of the leading leisure destinations in Europe. Since it opened in 1995, the resort has had more than 90 million visits.

Earlier this year, PortAventura World purchased its first hotel outside of the resort. It already operates six hotels with almost 2,500 rooms.

In 2020, PortAventura World announced that the entire resort had gone carbon neutral.
