Universal Orlando has announced that tickets are now on sale for Universal’s Great Movie Escape, its first escape room experience. The attraction is inspired by fan favourites Jurassic World and Back to the Future and opens to the public on 9 December 2022.
Located at Universal CityWalk, Universal’s Great Movie Escape invites visitors of all ages to solve a pair of escape rooms set within the worlds of two of the biggest film franchises in history, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World and Back to the Future films.
An all-new escape room experience
The creative team worked with filmmakers and escape room experts to create a unique experience that goes beyond the usual escape room offering. It features a range of challenges within detailed themed surroundings and original storylines, allowing visitors to feel like they are in the world of the movies. The challenges themselves are designed to offer something for everyone, whether they have done several escape rooms before or this is their first experience of one.
The experience starts with an art-deco theatre-inspired welcome area, which then splits into Jurassic World: Escape and Back to the Future: OUTATIME. Each adventure includes eight different environments featuring randomised and customised challenges. These can also be adjusted based on skill level and complexity.
In Jurassic World: Escape, visitors find themselves in a secret lab on Isla Nublar. As trainee genetics, they will be put to work on tasks like feeding dinosaurs and splicing dinosaur DNA, before finding out that an apex predator has escaped and that they must work together to avoid being caught by it.
Meanwhile, Back to the Future: OUTATIME will take them back to 1993, where Biff has stolen Doc Brown’s newest time travel device and is plotting to disrupt the space-time continuum. They need to collaborate and work out Doc Brown’s clues as they travel through time to find Biff and save the day, in the nick of time.
Tickets are on sale now and start at $49.99 per person. The experience includes up to six guests per group. A private group experience is also available from $300 per group, for up to eight people.
Last month, Universal Orlando Resort announced that it would be closing five attractions in the KidZone area of Universal Studios Florida in January 2023, to make room for new entertainment inspired by “beloved animated characters”.
