Falcon’s Creative Group, the entertainment design firm, has announced its involvement in the development of Saudi Arabia’s largest water park.
The project is in the early stages of development at Qiddiya, which is described as a future Capital of Entertainment, Sports and Culture. The venue will be situated on the outskirts of Riyadh. Falcon’s Creative Group, a sector of Falcon’s Beyond, has revealed it is developing Qiddiya Water Theme Park’s master plan, in conjunction with Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) – the entity driving the development of Qiddiya.
Falcon’s master plan for the project spans more than 250,000 square meters with 22 rides and attractions. The park will offer a unique collection of dry and wet rides, including nine “world firsts”.
Range of experiences
The park will also comprise technologically-advanced competition level facilities for watersports enthusiasts, such as the first-ever surfing and whitewater rafting experience, accompanied by seventeen catering and shopping locations.
Visitors will experience nine innovatively designed zones including Arabian Peak, Camel Rock, Dub Grotto, Wave Wadi and Surf Lagoon. The experience of the rides reflects the attributes of its relevant area, such as Viper Canyon featuring some of the most thrilling rides, to reflect the aggressive nature of the creature.
Falcon’s Beyond CEO Cecil D. Magpuri comments: “We are honoured to bring not only deep development experience, including past projects in Dubai, but also industry-leading technology prowess to create an entertainment experience that is truly game-changing. This is also an exciting and unique opportunity for us to participate in the ongoing transformation in Saudi Arabia and to set a new benchmark in water theme parks and family entertainment for others to follow.”
Sustainability
The park has been master-planned by Falcon’s Creative Group in adherence to QIC’s sustainability procedures, such as technology that links the structure of certain attractions to enable water body transfer and therefore enabling recycling whilst minimalising waste.
Other advanced technology strategically reduces water pressure for slides, dramatically reducing water usage. Additional elements of the park will be built to use 75% less water compared to other water park rides, where even rainwater will be captured, treated, and reused.
Project contracts
The QIC recently awarded the $750 million construction contract to ALEC Saudi Arabia Engineering & Contracting and El Seif Engineering Contracting, the formation of a joint venture between the two firms to construct the park.
Falcon’s Beyond executive chairman Scott Demerau says: “By delivering an entirely new type of immersive entertainment experience, the Qiddiya Water Park will change the way we think about water parks. Moreover, we believe our sustainability approach to its development will set a new standard for future parks, benefitting the world around us.”
At the conclusion of 2021, construction plans for Six Flags Qiddiya were announced in a contract worth SAR 3.7 billion. The theme park’s signature attraction will be Falcon’s Flight, slated as the future tallest, longest and fastest coaster worldwide.
Earlier this month, Dewan Architects + Engineers were announced as a lead design consultant for the Qiddiya water park.
