ProSlide Technology Inc., an industry leader in water ride manufacturing and design, has opened its latest installation in Tampa, US, the first of its type from the firm.
SeaWorld’s Adventure Island will benefit from the world’s principal ProSlide Dueling FlyingSAUCER, making its global debut. As the newest innovation by the company, the addition combines two unique technologies to create a high-performance racing attraction. It is described by the firm as “the next step in competitive water ride racing”.
Long-standing partnership
During their partnership spanning numerous decades, ProSlide has worked with five different SeaWorld locations. The all-new Rapids Racer will be the company’s tenth installation at Adventure Island.
ProSlide’s Dueling FlyingSAUCER is distinctive with its duelling feature that allows riders to race together in the same direction. ProSlide’s chief commercial officer Ray Smegal explains: “This new feature is built on the foundation of award-winning rides and ProSlide innovation.
“It establishes a completely new category of ride feature and is poised to create a monumental shift in the water ride landscape. We are thrilled to partner again with SeaWorld and Adventure Island to debut this one-of-a-kind ProSlide water ride.”
The Dueling FlyingSAUCER begins with two rafts entering the feature through two closed duelling flumes. Riders swoop and dive around the feature, approaching corners as if they were huge slalom ski turns. Riders can see and hear their friends on the other track, creating competitive neck-and-neck racing thrills.
Swimmers enjoying the Raging Rapids attraction will slide through components of ProSlide’s Dueling PIPEline and FlyingSAUCER experiences. Products vice-president Greg White says: “These are two of our most popular water rides around the world. Both draw a tremendous amount of their inspiration from our company’s history in competitive ski racing, so combining them into a single experience was a natural progression for us.”
Earlier this month ProSlide announced it has supplied attractions for Vietnam’s largest water park, The Amazing Bay.
