ProSlide Technology Inc., an industry leader in water ride manufacturing and design, is celebrating the positive reception of its latest custom RideHOUSE installation, Svalgurok, at Rulantica. The expansion to Europa-Park’s water park is part of ProSlide’s WaterKINGDOM suite of aquatic play rides and attractions and has already proved to be a hit.

Design, engineering and storytelling
Known as the ‘Nordic Outdoor World of Slides’, the outdoor installation has been customized by ProSlide with huge sea creatures, in keeping with Europa-Park’s mythologically-inspired Scandinavian theming, and combines design, engineering and storytelling for a new level of aquatic play.
“Rulantica fulfilled its incredible vision to create a world-leading WaterKINGDOM RideHOUSE that extends and enhances their second-to-none theming”, says Jeff Janovich, ProSlide Senior Vice-President of Global Strategic Partnerships. “Svalgurok is our next-generation RideHOUSE that showcases how the world’s first interactive, robotic theming along with 10 tracks of cutting-edge ProSlide Water Rides work together to create an attraction unlike anything seen before.”
Immersive theming
Svalgurok features a huge, interactive robotic theming element, which is a first for an aquatic play structure. The giant sea-serpent Svalgur can move its head and spray up to 200 gallons of water per minute from four nozzles inside its mouth. The scene outside at Rulantica depicts an aquatic battle between the Svalgur and a giant octopus – which is a themed ProSlide Continuous BodyBOWL – with massive tentacles encircling the RideHOUSE.
The installation features a high level of detail for a fully immersive experience, from hand-painted theming on the slides to a large fibreglass tipping bucket that appears to be made out of fish bones. There is also a tunnel that looks like it is constructed from whale bones that bridges sections, in addition to hand-carved Viking shields and wood planks.
As well as the quality theming, the new attraction also features a mix of 10 tracks of high-performance ProSlide water rides, including a competitive two-lane ProRACER, three TWISTERS and four KIDZ TWISTERS.
“There’s really something for everyone on this particular RideHOUSE”, says Kiel Graham, WaterKINGDOM Product Line Manager at ProSlide. “Together with the team at Rulantica, we made sure the water ride offering was second-to-none and, along with the theming, really elevated this RideHOUSE to be something unlike anything else in the world.”
Last month, ProSlide announced that its rides and attractions feature at eight of the parks named in USA Today’s list of the Top 10 Best Outdoor Water Parks, as voted for by the publication’s readers.
