Peta Wittig Director Peta Wittig Consulting

Peta Wittig established her consultancy in 2023 to support tourism attractions in creating exceptional experiences. She has over 20 years of experience in the attractions industry, primarily within zoos and aquaria and also including tours, media relations, and theme parks.

Speaking to blooloop in 2018, Wittig said: “I was never one of those people who knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up. In fact, that penny only dropped several years ago when I got into this industry and started working for zoOceanarium Group.

“For me, I’ve found a career that doesn’t feel like a job. It has its tough days, but overall I’m thankful for being part of such an awesome team and being involved in something bigger than me. Don’t tell my boss, but I’d probably do it for no money at all.”

Wittig was formerly general manager at Phillip Island Nature Parks, where she established the award-winning Penguin Live TV project which engaged audiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Before this, she was manager at Park Trek Walking Holidays, executive director/ general manager for the zoOceanarium Group, where she worked on projects such as The Green Planet Dubai, St Louis Aquarium at Union Station, and Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo; and operations manager for Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi. She was also operations consultant for Leisure Consultants LLC in UAE, supporting Hili Fun City – Al Ain.

One person who nominated Wittig said: “Peta’s passion for the zoo & aquarium industry is evident from the moment you meet her. She’s also a volunteer for The Lost Dogs’ Home which is an animal welfare group in Melbourne and while in the UAE, founded a pet microchipping database to address the countless lost pets in the country.

“Peta also serves the industry by volunteering on the IAAPA Asia Advisory Committee and speaking at industry conferences and events.[…] She is actively involved in shaping the future of the attractions industry, with a focus on zoos and aquariums.”
