HolodeckVR becomes SPREE Interactive and partners with IAAPA for demonstration of free roam VR technology at IAAPA Expo Europe 2019 in Paris

Munich, Germany (September 09, 2019) – SPREE Interactive (www.jointhespree.com), the company previously known as Holodeck VR, is pleased to introduce the company’s new name and brand.  SPREE Interactive is also pleased to partner with IAAPA during the IAAPA Expo Europe event in Paris, France, from September 17th to 19th to create the Virtual Showroom at the IAAPA Theater.

SPREE has partnered with IAAPA to provide member manufacturers access to a virtual showroom in the IAAPA Theatre. SPREE’s patented free-roam VR technology makes any optical tracking hardware more accurate and reliable, thereby enabling manufacturers to showcase their larger attractions away from the trade show floor.

“The name SPREE sprung from the evolution of our company and products as we have learned from our experience of rolling out innovative free-roam VR over the past year,” said Jonathan Nowak Delgado, co-founder and managing director of SPREE Interactive. “We listened to our partners at theme parks, family entertainment centers, trampoline parks and other amusement locations, and have focused our product direction to deliver kid-friendly, family-friendly free-roam VR. The lighthearted name reflects our mission to provide experiences that demonstrate our core values: Simple. Social. Fun. We look forward to talking to operators and future partners at IAAPA Expo Europe!”

SPREE’s innovative free-roam VR tracking technology, which enables the highest user throughput in the market, has been integrated into unique attractions at amusement locations including some of Europe’s most popular theme parks.  In partnership with VR Coaster, SPREE powers the world’s first “Roam&RideⓇ” attraction that combines SPREE free roaming with a dynamic VR Coaster ride at Europa-Park, Germany’s largest theme park. Also in cooperation with VR Coaster, SPREE enabled the world’s first VR bumper car attraction, in Erlebnispark Schloss Thurn, an amusement park outside Nuremberg, Germany.

SPREE Interactive uses proprietary patented sensor fusion technology, exclusively licensed from Fraunhofer IIS R&D Institute in Nuremberg, optical tracking hardware provided by Qualisys AB, and onboard inertial measurement units (IMUs) to create a platform for high-volume free-roaming VR attractions.

SPREE Interactive recently received a substantial investment from media giant ProSiebenSat.1 for use in enabling the company to expand its platform and its network of locations.
