Chinatown Heritage Centre, Singapore

The newly revamped Chinatown Heritage Centre in Singapore allows visitors to delve into local Chinese culture and to experience how Singapore’s early migrants lived. The Living Cubicles explore a recreation of the living and working quarters of the Chinatown workers and artisans ranging from hawkers and physicians to tailors and carpenters.

Challenge
A prerequisite of the multimedia tour was the inclusion of augmented reality (AR) with an agreed 35 objects in total – our biggest AR project to date.

Solution
The tour, scripted and recorded by Imagineear in English and Mandarin, includes a stop at which the visitor points the camera on our MPti™ device at a variety of objects and sees an English translation of the text in real time. The tour will soon be available in Japanese too.

Outcomes
CHC has been voted one of the top ten cultural destinations in Singapore, with particular praise for the tour, by TripAdvisor.
