Tokyo Disneyland has set a closing date for the current version of Space Mountain. The indoor coaster and its surrounding area are being transformed in a ¥56 billion ($408 million) project.
To celebrate the current attraction, Tokyo Disneyland is holding a special event from 9 April to 31 July 2024. Space Mountain will then close at the end of the day on 31 July.
Tokyo Disneyland broke ground on the new Space Mountain earlier this year. The coaster, which has been a popular attraction at Tokyo Disneyland since the park opened in 1983, will offer “enhanced performance” as well as “immersive special effects”.
The renovated Tomorrowland plaza will represent a future “where humans are in harmony with nature”. After dark, the Space Mountain area will be a “spectacular world of light and soundscapes”.

To celebrate the new port, Tokyo DisneySea is putting on the ‘Dreaming of Fantasy Springs’ event from 9 April through 30 June. Guests will enjoy themed decorations, merchandise and F&B.

“We believe there are still various possibilities when it comes to expansion,” Takano said (via Nikkei Asia).
