dan pearlman, a leading brand and experience architecture group, has revealed details of the Candyland and Skypark attractions at the LOOP5 shopping mall in Weiterstadt near Darmstadt, Germany.
Client Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), has laid the foundation for this groundbreaking retailtainment project, which features Candyland, Skypark, and Foodheaven among its comprehensive offer. The development is project managed by JLL with dan pearlman as the principal design agency.
LOOP5 has been repositioned with a consistent retailtainment methodology, which has been implemented over the past few months without requiring the mall to be closed. Each section, or ‘Experience Loop’, was therefore able to open following its completion.
Sweet experience
In Candyland, the brightly coloured Candyshaker and Candyfountain add to the “sweet” atmosphere.
The Candyshaker is a walk-in cupcake reaching two floors tall (11 metres), and topped with a stylized cherry. The Minitagada is a rotating, shaking carousel located on the ground floor that spins for 90 seconds, with a capacity of up to 12 guests.
For guests who enjoy a calmer atmosphere, there is a small seating space on the upper floor. Situated beneath the cream topping, this area provides a stunning view across Candyland. In addition, guests can discover the Candyshaker’s mirrored dome, which creates a multi-dimensional self-portrait from above and is perfect for taking selfies.
The Candyfountain features six interactive water exhibits that encourage experimentation, play, and learning while also giving entertaining facts about water.
In addition, Candyland includes two AR stations that immerse visitors in the universe of the Loopies, virtual reality characters created by BEAM Cross Realities exclusively for LOOP5. In Candyland, visitors may visit Loopie “Huge” at home and bake digital cupcakes with him using the AR stations.
Fun, flying & food
In Skypark, the Skyclimber adventure ropes course caters to guests of all ages. The obstacles are located across the shopping centre’s three floors and range in experience level. The Adventure Trail is located on the ground floor, and features spacious tree houses accompanied by a 26-meter tunnel system for children to explore.
More experienced climbers can test their dexterity on the first and second levels. Safety equipment enables visits to conquer numerous challenges at a height of 18 metres, including swinging tree trunks, spider nets, and floating platforms.
Furthermore, with the Flying Loop 130-meter long zip line attraction, speed fans can zoom over visitors’ heads at a speed of 15 kilometres per hour. At 8 metres high, the Flying Loop stretches above the second-storey Foodheaven like a sculpture.
Foodheaven, the centrepiece of Skypark, provides a 1000 square meter area for 500 people to rest and refresh after physical activities. Foodheaven is organised into areas which meet different requirements, such as the Family Island, offering spacious tables for families and playstations for kids. The Panorama Deck creates a summery ambience even during the coldest months.
Unique retailtainment concept
The LOOP5 retailtainment concept revitalises four levels of the shopping centre with five experience sections known as Loops. Each Loop has a unique story and storyline, enabling the centre to offer a family-oriented experience with a diverse variety of attractions for all age groups.
Under the tagline “Enter the Loop World,” LOOP5 will be the first shopping mall in Germany to provide its patrons with such a comprehensive retailtainment approach when the last element of the new structure is deployed by the end of 2024.
