Event Network partnership with Historic Charleston Foundation

Firm will support the Foundation’s advocacy and preservation objectives through enhanced retail fundraising

Event Network, a leading operator of retail stores for experiential attractions in the US, has entered into a new partnership with Historic Charleston Foundation, South Carolina. The Foundation has three locations, with two museum houses, Aiken-Rhett House and Nathaniel Russell House, and a store in Charleston’s City Market.

This collaboration started with the comprehensive remerchandising of the City Market Store, which launched on 2 May. In addition, Event Network will operate retail locations at the Aiken-Rhett House and Nathaniel Russell House. This relationship strengthens both organisations’ dedication to education, preservation, and community.

Supporting preservation & advocacy

Event Network is well-known for elevating the visitor experience and boosting income at cultural institutions across North America through its beautifully designed retail settings and award-winning product collections. Its Historic Charleston Foundation collaboration builds on this legacy and supports the Foundation’s preservation and advocacy objectives.

Historic Charleston Foundation was founded in 1947 and champions policies that protect historic structures and environments, preserving Charleston and guaranteeing thriving communities for its residents. The Foundation is a powerful voice and authority in the Charleston community and beyond, having launched its Common Cause Loan Fund, supported African American settlement communities through advocacy, and implemented easement and covenant programmes.

Winslow Hastie, Historic Charleston Foundation president and CEO, explains: “With unprecedented growth and development pressure in the Charleston region, the work of the Foundation has never been more important. We are in a unique position to be able to serve the community through our active preservation programs, advocacy initiatives, and our museum houses.”

The Aiken-Rhett House, built in 1820, is one of the best-preserved townhouse complexes in the country, and the Nathaniel Russell House, built in 1808, is a National Historic Landmark and one of the most significant house museums in America. As two educational institutions, they symbolise excellence in historic preservation and restoration and provide vital opportunities to teach about shared American history.

Enhancing retail fundraising

Since 1972, Historic Charleston Foundation has collaborated with well-known producers to create a collection of garden and home furnishings and accessories that encapsulate the city’s history and aesthetic. It is available from the Market Shop, along with a completely new range of custom-designed products.

Hastie says: “Event Network has a proven track record with similar attractions and organizations, so we are delighted to partner with them to maintain our retail fundraising touchpoints while we strengthen our focus on our preservation and advocacy efforts.”

For the past 26 years, Event Network has specialised in building customised retail solutions for mission-based institutions which enhance their distinctive experience. The firm’s focus on retail leads to higher revenue and year-over-year growth for partners through innovative product offerings and engaging store settings.

Its commitment to enhancing the retail store experience and emphasis on environmentally responsible business practices has built a reputation as a leading retail provider for cultural and experiential attractions throughout the US.

Last month, Event Network was recognised with a SEAL Sustainable Product Award for its new apparel line Wearsponsible. SEAL (Sustainability, Environmental Achievement & Leadership) Awards is an environmental advocacy organisation. Its activities include research, environmental impact initiatives, and business sustainability and environmental journalism awards.
