Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry opens next year

Universal Destinations & Experiences has shared a first look at the new Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry ride at Epic Universe.

Part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe, the ride is billed as one of Universal’s most impressive to date. It will offer immersive environments, powerful storytelling, and unique ride technology.

Per a press release, the new ride will include an extensive look around the Ministry of Magic, from Dolores Umbridge’s office to the grand atrium.

Guests will also see the reception booths, the Auror office, the Department of Magical Creatures, and the ministry’s filing system.

Additionally, riders will get to explore a cavernous library of magical archives, as well as the mysterious Time Room.

Other iconic elements of the Ministry of Magic on view include golden carvings, intricate sculptures, magical artefacts, and Daily Prophet newspapers and memos.

As for the ride experience, this begins with guests travelling by Métro-Floo, based on the Floo Network in the films, to the trial of Dolores Umbridge. They will board magical, omnidirectional lifts to watch the trial take place.

When Umbridge attempts to escape, visitors join Harry, Ron, Hermione and a house-elf named Higgledy in a thrilling chase through the building as they dodge attacks from Death Eaters and other creatures.

Peter van Roden, senior VP of global themed entertainment at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “The scale and detail of this ride is truly epic. I think it’s going to be one of the great rides in the world.”

The Harry Potter land at Universal Orlando’s fourth theme park is inspired by 1920s Paris in the Fantastic Beasts film franchise and the British Ministry of Magic from the Harry Potter series.

Epic Universe opens to the public on 22 May 2025. It boasts five themed lands with more than 50 attractions, entertainment experiences, and retail and F&B outlets.
