Dulwich Picture Gallery, London: Tove Jansson 1914-2001

The first UK retrospective on the work of Tove Jansson and key stages of her life was supported by a multimedia guide created by Imagineear.

Challenge
World-famous as the creator of the Moomin characters and books, Tove Jansson is not known outside her native Finland for her talent as graphic illustrator, painter, cartoonist and novelist, and her courage as a satirist. Visitors could be drawn to Dulwich by their interest in the Moomins, of which the content was plentiful but the ideal was that they leave with a memory of Tove Jansson’s wider abilities.

Solution
Our multimedia guide, scripted, recorded, edited and with interface design by Imagineear, offers an added depth of interpretation to the exhibition. An actor’s voice conducted visitors through the guide and provided character cameos. Image research and film editing were part of the service. The guide is hosted on Imagineear’s MPti™ devices with 5” touch screens. The same devices are used for the refreshed guide to the permanent collection, also updated by Imagineear.

What we are proud of
We have provided Dulwich Picture Gallery with technical solutions for audio and imagery for several years so we were delighted to be asked first to provide multimedia support but then to create and produce a multimedia exhibition guide.
