$2bn Chongqing Theme Park to Boost China’s Ties with International Film Industry

News

China seeks strengthen cooperation between the Chinese and foreign film companies with $2 billion film studio and theme park development in Chongqing.

The theme park which is being built by a Chongqing-based subsidiary of ZYHJ Industry Investment Capital Ltd, is set to break ground in 2017.

The theme park and movie studio complex will be named after the  President Xi Jinping’s “One Belt, One Road” program, which aims to establish and strengthen international trade channels.

China’s strategic focus on the entertainment industry is clearly working, with China’s box office set to exceed that of the US in size.  Dalian Wanda, who have formed a partnership with Sony Pictures and acquired Legendary Entertainment, is currently building a mega film and TV studio in Qingdao.
