Norway’s most ambitious theme park development, Thor’s Rike, hopes to turn the Haugesund region into ‘the Viking capital of the world’.
The country’s largest theme park is still seeking funding before it can break ground.
Hopeful of securing the final budget by the summer, developers have billed it as ‘a theme park in Viking costume’.
The park is intended to transport guests to both the historical and mythical Norse worlds.
There will be several themed environments including a forest, an enormous castle-fort, as well as a trip through the Norse underworld.
Attractions are set to include thrill rides, roller coasters and carousels. There will be an element of edutainment, too, were visitors can learn something of Viking history.
Food and beverage offerings will enable guest to eat like Vikings. They will even be able to barter like Vikings at shops around the park.
Thor’s Rike is predicted to open sometime in 2020.
