A move is afoot in Japan to make the inclusion of casinos compulsory in the country’s integrated leisure resorts.
A panel of experts has proposed that all such resorts must offer the following core facilities:
- a casino
- a convention centre
- recreation facilities such as a shopping mall and a museum
- transport facilities
- a hotel
The government is planning to convene a special session this autumn to propose the new integrated resorts bill.
The intention is that profits from the casinos would be used to finance the running of the other core facilities.
