The Mountain Monster to thrill Pigeon Forge

News
The Mountain Monster. Tower shops at mountain mile. Pigeon Forge.

Construction has started on a 61m tower that will feature three thrill rides as part of a multi-purpose retail and family entertainment development in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Dubbed The Mountain Monster, the tower will form part of The Tower Shops at Mountain Mile, a 16,700 sq m multi-purpose retail and family entertainment development close to Dollywood and Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

The Mountain Monster will be designed, built and operated by Stan Checketts, who said he has built rides in 39 countries, including the Big Shot thrill ride on the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas.

“I’ve designed ride concepts all over the world, but I am particularly excited about the Mountain Monster. This setting has a unique combination of incredible views and a vibrant market of family entertainment,” said Checketts. “This fits perfectly with our goal to provide the most exciting and safe experience for thrill seekers.”

One of the rides will swing riders between towers, dropping them 65 feet and sending them arcing over the parking lot. The main tower will feature two other drop rides as well.

The rest of the development will include a bowling alley, sports bar and arcade as well as various shops and restaurants, including a gastropub.
