SkyVenture to bring GEN 9 indoor skydiving tunnel to Qatar’s first indoor theme park

iFLY, a world leader in indoor skydiving tunnels, has entered into a new partnership with Quest, Qatar’s first-ever indoor theme park.

Quest is located within Doha Oasis, a mixed-use development in Msheireb Downtown Doha, and is operated by MR-ProFun. The brand-new 32,000-square-metre indoor theme park opened to the public last summer and includes over 40 rides and attractions. Visitors can enjoy a mix of thrill rides, media-controlled simulators, virtual reality (VR) experiences and family-friendly offerings.

It is also home to EpiQ Coaster, the world’s tallest indoor roller coaster, and Magma Blast, the world’s tallest indoor drop tower ride.

Dream of flight comes to Quest

SkyVenture, the creator of iFLY, will be supplying Quest with state of the art, GEN 9 technology in a 10.5’ wind tunnel.

The tunnel’s design is compact and power-efficient, meaning it can fit within the existing operating theme park. As a result, there will be no need for any deep digging and the project also requires very few structural steel changes, all of which will be above ground.

“Doha Quest the largest indoor theme park in Qatar is thrilled to announce the latest addition to its’ 40+ signature world standard rides, iFLY indoor skydiving,” says Marcel Hendriks, General Manager, Doha Quest.

The attraction is the first of its kind in an indoor theme park. “iFLY complements Quest’s portfolio of ‘firsts’ making it a superb fit. Quest’s rides and attractions are from the world’s largest manufacturers, designers and operators. Therefore choosing iFLY, the market leader of vertical wind tunnels for indoor skydiving, was an obvious choice” adds Hendricks.

Quest and iFLY’s engineering team collaborated to ensure the physical feasibility of the project, whilst contract negotiations were also underway, meaning the deal was completed in record time.

“I am delighted that the new iFLY tunnel model has been adopted so quickly, and for such a prestigious project,” says Ben Philpott, Director of Global Development, iFLY.

“It is a stamp of approval for the extensive research and development continually carried out by iFLY to meet the ever-changing demands of the expanding family entertainment sector and to make indoor skydiving feasible for all types of projects.

“Our engineering team will continue to support QUEST during the construction phase, and we look forward to supporting the iFLY operations at QUEST for many years to come.”

Since its launch in 1998, iFLY has expanded worldwide, with 90 tunnels across the globe, including in more than 45 US cities, as well as locations in France, New Zealand, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Belarus and Great Britain. As well as providing fun recreational flights, iFLY has also been used to train both athletes and military personnel.

Last year, iFLY announced a new franchise facility in Miami, Florida, at 1501 NW North River Drive. This new location for the popular indoor skydiving attraction also features iFLY’s cutting-edge GEN 9 technology.
