Early bird registration for the 11th International Aquarium Congress (IAC) is still open. The event is taking place from 30 October to 4 November 2022 at Nausicaá in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France.
The early bird rate of €270 for this year’s IAC event is available until 31 May 2022. From 1 June, the rate increases to €370.
“IAC 2022 is a unique opportunity for aquariums to share best practice and present their common priorities, discuss the societal impact of the activities and analyse the solutions they propose,” says Christophe Sirugue, general director of Nausicaá.
“We must also prepare for a strong position: our commitment must be scientific, technological, societal and political to ensure the preservation of threatened marine ecosystems.”
“The organisation is ready to provide you with a rich and diverse congress,” Sirugue adds. “The first registrations are now open.”
IAC 2022 begins on 30 October 2022

The theme for this year’s International Aquarium Congress is ‘Aquariums: engaged and active on behalf of the blue planet’. The programme is available here.
Due to the pandemic, IAC 2022 will be a virtual event. If possible, the team will open registration for a face-to-face meeting in June 2022. This will run alongside the virtual event and feature the same content.
Earlier this month, IAC 2022 revealed the additional subthemes for the event, which are as follows:
- Technological developments
- Reproduction
- Animal care
- Conservation
- Scenographic design and production of cultural and scientific content
- Education, raising awareness, mobilisation
- The role of aquariums in society
- Adapting to a global pandemic situation
IAC 2022 is still calling for presenters to submit abstracts by 6 May 2022. All abstracts must be submitted via the online form. Additionally, a tradeshow will run alongside the conference. Exhibitor registration is now open.
“Nausicaá will be the place to discuss how aquariums can get involved and be active for the blue planet,” Sirugue says.
